KL Sanctuary was an exclusive, non-profit, community-driven, free-entry, and intimate audiovisual series dedicated to showcasing an array of local creatives - DJs, visual artists, and live performers. We premiered the launch of KL Sanctuary on MANILA COMMUNITY RADIO (MCR) via three platforms simultaneously: YouTube, Twitch, and MCR’s website. This project exposed unique Malaysian talents to international audiences, strengthened ties between the Malaysian and the Philippines creative communities, and helped create more opportunities for Malaysian talents during the pandemic. We wanted to help by giving opportunities for the local (new/current/experienced) musicians & visualizers a platform for them to come out from their bedroom, studio, “containment” or “lockdown” during these hard times to go out performing live again during the pandemic quarantine. Expressing themselves, playing, experiencing the sound system, and feeling the physical vibrations of the sonic experience. Altogether with the crowds, immersing oneself in an audiovisual feast, feeling the atmosphere of being together with friends under one roof, and vibing again in a music event. A place where like-minded people can gather healthily and positively. A haven for musicians, creatives, and music lovers who seek a place to vibe and feel again – a sanctuary.
